Description

This is a view of downtown Venice on Tampa Avenue. I got up really early in the morning to be here at the Venice Theater right at sunrise. I got here in the dark and watched the sun slowly rise above the horizon in the distance. As the sky grew lighter it burst into incredible bright colors! It was so beautiful! It was right after it rained so the puddles in the street reflected some of the colors of the sky. It was a quiet moment early in the morning so I was able to capture the entire theater with no traffic or people.

The Venice Theater was originally used by the Kentucky Military Institute which wintered here from the 1930's to 1971, then it was purchased in 1973 and converted to a theater by Venice Theater.

Venice is an amazing city in Florida. It sits on the Gulf of Mexico on the west coast and has a beautiful beach, jetty, and pier. You have a couple places at the coast to watch beautiful sunsets each night. I love the architecture here in Venice, especially the buildings from the 1920's. Venice is known for its wonderful main street area and love of the arts. Venice is just south of Sarasota and is near Englewood, Nokomis, and North Port.
