Description
I just love historic downtown Venice, Florida! It has so much charm. I love the historic architecture here. This lovely Gulf Coast city is full of old buildings from the 1920's. I enjoy taking photos here. I got up early in the morning to capture this scene right after sunrise when the city was quiet so I could get a clean photo without a lot of people or traffic. The mornings are so peaceful! I love how the warm light of golden hour lights up the scene. This is a view of businesses on Venice Avenue: Venice Wine and Coffee Company, and Kilwin's.
Venice is an amazing city in Sarasota County on the west coast of Florida, and is known for its love of the arts and wonderful beaches. The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) played a large role in the early development of the city of Venice. Venice is a pre-planned community designed by John Nolen with parks throughout the city and Northern Italian Renaissance style homes. These homes built in the 1920's add a wonderful charm to the city. The city is trying to preserve its rich architectural heritage for generations to come.
Historic downtown Venice is known for its lovely main street area and has won numerous awards for it. Many locals work hard to keep it beautiful maintaining many gardens and landscaping. Venice has a rich history including the Ringling Circus and Kentucky Military Institute which wintered here for decades. In the evenings you can walk by cute little shops, restaurants and coffee shops downtown while hearing live music in the streets. Many benches line the streets so you can sit and relax.
Venice sits on the Gulf of Mexico and has a beautiful beach, jetty, and pier. You have a couple places at the coast to watch beautiful sunsets each night. Venice is just south of Sarasota and is near Englewood, Nokomis, and North Port.
I also have another version of this photo that is cropped horizontal and includes more of the street scene on the right with the row of palm trees.
