Description
The lighthouses at the end of the pier in Grand Haven, Michigan are prominent landmarks. They sit at the end of a very long pier which extends out into Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Grand River. I arrived at sunset and was so happy to capture this shot before the sun went down. The sky lit up with bright colors that night. The cement on the pier had recently been redone and the catwalk was in the process of being reinstalled. So this is a rare shot without half of the catwalk (taken in June 2019). Grand Haven had a big fundraiser to reinstall the catwalk because of its importance to the city. The lighthouses stand at the mouth of the Grand River which moves towards the city of Grand Rapids. Grand Haven was formerly known as "Grand Heaven". The outer lighthouse was built in 1875 and the inner lighthouse was built in 1905. This photo has been enhanced with digital painting effects to add detail. It is a long exposure photo of 10 seconds to soften the water.
