Description
This is a very special photo of the Venice Fishing Pier because it is the first time I photographed it after Hurricane Ian and it still stands strong as ever. The storm was on September 28, 2022 and it impacted Venice, Florida with 18-24 inches of rain and very high winds up to Category 4. I wanted to soften the water so I did a longer exposure and am so happy with the result: it looks like an impressionist painting! I love the soft pastel colors and the texture of the water. It just glistens in the warm light of sunset! I captured this moment just as the sun peeked below the deck of the pier. Visitors are silhouetted against the warm sky and are all there enjoying this last moment of warm sunshine for the day.
Standing here by the Venice Fishing Pier in Florida is one of my favorite places to take photos. I love looking out into infinity and hearing the waves as they come in, feeling the sand in-between my toes, the salty sea breeze blowing through my hair. I watch each moment of light change as the sun drops below the horizon. It is an endless display of beauty mixing liquid and light, and a reminder that no matter how my day went, it can always end beautifully. This is my happy place right here on the Gulf of Mexico on the west coast of Florida.
I found some poetry which describes the feeling of being here:
"It is almost impossible to watch a sunset and not dream." ~ Bern Williams
"Sunset is the opening music of the night." ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
"Let the sea breeze blow your hair, let the sunset bring tranquility to your heart, let the distant places you travel allow you to explore yourself." ~ Somya Kedia
"A sunset is the sun's fiery kiss to the night." ~Crystal Woods
"Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Never go too long without watching a sunset." ~ Atticus
The fishing pier in Venice, Florida is a great place to watch the sunset at the end of the day. The pier extends 700 feet out into the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and is very tall. It is located in Brohard Park at the southern end of the island of Venice. There is a restaurant called Sharky's on the end of the pier. Caspersen Beach is just down the road where fossilized sharks teeth can be found. This is one of the most popular landmarks in Venice.

Beautiful sunset colors - love the way they are reflected on the water and wet sand in the foreground. Congratulations on the sale.
