Dramatic blue skies and calm waters caught my eye of this beautiful sunset on the Manatee River in Parrish, Florida. The orange glow of the sun and elegant homes in The Islands are in the horizon. It was a calm and serene night on the fishing pier at Fort Hamer Park. This park has a popular rowing facility where youth practice rowing down the Manatee River. It is fun to watch. The pier at the park has been taken down and replaced with a new one, also a new boat slip has been built. Recently the Fort Hamer Bridge has been built (behind you in the photo) to connect the town of Parrish with Bradenton. Many locals are excited about the shorter and easier commutes. Crossing the bridge gives you gorgeous elevated views of the rugged Old Florida landscape in the distance. In this area the Manatee River begins to wind itself into more narrow passageways. With all the recent improvements Fort Hamer Park has become a very popular place for boating and fishing.

I did a long exposure in this photo to soften the water.
