This is an original oil painting that I made when I was in art school in 1991. It was based on a photograph I took of a dramatic sky in Michigan. The sky was ominous and dark, but the sun glowing through the clouds and the parting clouds in the distance seemed to bring a soothing peace. It reminds me of feeling the hope of a brighter future after a dark and difficult time. To make the painting, I cut and assembled a wooden frame, hand-stretched the canvas and then primed it with gesso, then painted the image in oils. Afterwards I framed the canvas with thin stained pieces of wood. Canvas dimensions (without the wooden frame) are 24.25" H x 30.25" W x 1.25" D. With the wooden frame the outer dimensions are 25" H x 31" W x 1.25" D. The canvas comes ready to hang with a wire on the back. The original (signed and dated) is for sale, and prints and other products are available with the image. The Fine Art America watermark will not be printed on products.
