Description
I came to the Venice Fishing Pier to take photos, and a huge cloud formation came in. It looked like it was about to pour. Afternoon thunderstorms are very common here in Florida, they come and go. The clouds hung low so I walked halfway down the long pier to capture the powerful clouds as they rolled in. I did a very long exposure to show the movement of the clouds. It's almost like a strong river current flowing by. Do you see any shapes in the clouds? Right after I took this photo I walked onto the beach, the sky broke loose, and the downpour completely soaked me. I checked my wet camera gear and thankfully it was ok! The bench in this photo is sitting very still. The clouds are chaotic around it, yet it's still sitting peacefully. Editing this image in black and white brings out the powerful emotion and movement of the clouds. The fishing pier in Venice, Florida is a great place to watch the sunset at the end of the day. The pier extends 700 feet out into the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and is very tall. It is located in Brohard Park at the southern end of the island of Venice. There is a restaurant called Sharky's on the end of the pier. Caspersen Beach is just down the road where fossilized sharks teeth can be found. This is one of the most popular landmarks in Venice.
