The island of Key West, Florida is filled with architecture full of charm, like these 2 homes which are in the typical Key West design: a 2-story porch, picket fence, shutters, etc. Riding down the street you can see many cute homes, some are painted in bright happy colors. Key West has a rich history.

These homes are on Whitehead Street next door to the Hemingway House. Ernest Hemingway lived here in the early 1900's and was a renowned writer who had 6-toed cats roaming his property. His home has a two-story wrap around porch and the first pool built on the island. It sits on the highest elevation on the island and is surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Ernest had a writing office on the second floor of a small building behind his home.

Across the street is the lighthouse. Key West is a fun place to visit and is a great place for walking and biking down its historic streets. At Mallory Square many people gather at sunset each night for a sunset celebration of street performers and vendors.

My husband and I stopped here in Key West on the way to Europe. We put everything in storage to travel Europe, it was quite an adventure! We loved Key West!
