I used this image to design the cover of the book, "Vagabonds in France", a lighthearted book written by my husband (pen name Michael A. Barry) about our travel adventures in France, its amazing beauty, and all the humorous cultural differences and "what the hell" moments you can get a kick out of. Find out how life threw a lemon at us, and we made it into lemonade. Putting all our stuff in storage, we left everything behind to experience an adventure of a lifetime, with no return date or home to come back to. Exploring for 9 weeks, we traveled from Florida (Tampa and Key West), to Portugal (Funchal, Madeira), to Spain (Malaga, Cartagena, and Barcelona), to the south of France (Antibes, Nice, Eze, St. Paul de Vence, Arles, Avignon), then a month in Paris, France. We climbed mountains, descended into the Paris Metro, dodged pickpockets, endured nasty weather and illness, and witnessed the flood of the century. Rue de l'Abreuvoir is a beautiful cobblestone street in Montmartre, in the 18th arrondissement of northern Paris. The view is taken from Place Dalida and looks towards the Basilica of Sacre' Coeur. Down the street around the corner (out of view) is where artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir rented a home to paint. He most likely would have walked down this street to go to the Moulin de la Galette where he painted people dancing. Now Renoir's home is the Musee de Montmartre. Other artists lived and worked in Montmarte in the late 1800's and early 1900's: Claude Monet, Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, and Camille Pissarro. Montmartre means "Mount of Mars", and sits on top of a hill that overlooks the city of Paris. From the steps of the Basilica of Sacre' Coeur you can see this amazing long distance view of popular sights of the city, such as the Opera, Eiffel Tower, and others.
